The power of Twitter

I ordered some business cards from a reputable business card company, and the cards arrived today.

Disappointed

I was excited when I opened the box, but disappointed with what I saw. The cards felt weak and flimsy, and it was difficult to read the text printed on them. I was now stuck with 500  business cards that I wasn’t going to use.

Money

I eventually ordered 200 business cards from another company. It cost more than the amount I had paid for the 500 cards, but I was confident that the new cards would be of a better quality.

I wrote on Twitter that I wasn’t happy with the cards I had received from the first company.  They saw the tweet and offered a full refund. I was surprised to see their tweet because I had not expected to be offered a refund.

I sent them my order number and they paid back the full amount.

Everyone’s a winner

  • I was pleased to get my money back.
  • I was impressed with the first company’s response to my tweet, and will consider using them for other business items in the future.
  • Twitter has shown once again how quickly it spreads information (both good and bad)

Have you had any similar experiences (good or bad) with Twitter?

I tell ya, I just can’t get with Twitter. I only just got a phone with a camera on it a few months ago! I can’t imagine my phone beeping all day long with endless tweets! LOL

Yeah, I know what you mean. There was a time when I couldn’t see the point of Twitter.

I thought it was only good for journalists. They were the only people talking about Twitter, telling the rest of us how it was going to be “the next big thing”.

I can now see why it’s so useful, especially for bloggers. People share blogging tips on Twitter all the time, and it’s a great place to share your blog posts. I can’t recommend it enough.

The description of your phone has given me an idea for a Post a Day topic. “What kind of phone do you have and why?” :)

I have never had anything happen with Twitter, or my blog that I have written that I didn’t like something.

Things like Twitter and blogging provide us consumers with another way to fight for our rights. Or you could say they give us another outlet for moaning and complaining. :)

That’s really great! Good businesses should monitor their twitter mentions and other social media mentions as that keeps them truly connected to what their customers really think. It also allows them to react quickly and resolve the issue, as happened in your case.

    Who was it btw?

Thanks Chichi. You’re right. Companies should take advantage of the ‘unfiltered’ connection to feedback that Twitter gives them. It’s really beneficial for us too. I’ve read lots of useful articles and I’ve learnt of so many useful events taking place from reading peoples’ tweets.

The first company I used was VistaPrint. I was so impressed with the speed at which they responded to my complaint. The second company I used was Goodprint. I haven’t received their cards yet, but I’ll let you know what I think when I get them.

Hey thanx for this post, as usual, it is useful and it has motivated me to update my twitter account, which I know you suggested when you left a comment ;-)

Also, I’m sure that we are anyway, but you can become an official blog buddy if you wish.

    Happy blogging

You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I enjoy reading your posts too. You’re inspiring me to write more poems. :)

We were already unofficial blog buddies, but thanks for making it ‘official’.

My twitter name is TheMojaTimes, by the way.

    See you on Twitter sometime.

You can choose your settings. Mine only alterts me or shows up on my BB when I’m mentioned directly. All other times I have to log/ visit if I wnat to see what’s goining on on twitter :)

Same here. I get text messages whenever someone mentions me on Twitter. I also have the Twitter app on my phone.

The funny thing is, I get the text messages from Twitter long before the Twitter app sends me a notification. Dodgy app!

The business cards arrived in time, and they’re so much better! The paper feels strong, the design looks clean, and the cards feel so professional. Very good for your business image, as you don’t want to come across as being cheap.

Ha ha ha! Yeah, I won’t be using them for a while. If you’re thinking of getting business cards, use Moo or Goodprint.

How you doing? Did you miss Jim at your last lesson?
